The ocean is constantly in motion. There are tides, big and small waves, sprays, ripples, bubbles and all kinds of activity on the surface of the ocean.

But deep beneath the noise and dynamic movement on the surface, the ocean depths are silent and calm.

It’s the same ocean but two very different perspectives.

Similarly, we have two identities—an outer personality and a peaceful, inner Self.

When you identify with the personality made up of the body and mind where there is continuous change, there is agitation, anxiety and stress. When you dive deep within, you tap into the tranquility of your own essential Self.

The Self is unaffected by the changing conditions of the body, emotions and thoughts. It is the detached witness of them all. It is your real Self.

To find peace, all you have to do is to turn your attention away from the concerns and attachments of the body and mind and place it on the Self within. Read, Being the Detached Inner Witness
