The longest journey you will make in your life is from your head to your heart. —Gary Zukav, best-selling author of The Seat of the Soul.

We are inundated with information these days and there is much pressure to stay on top of the latest news and happenings.

But gathering more information has added very little value to our inner lives and created an imbalance between our head and our heart.

The head is winning even though we all appreciate and want heart-based interactions.

Cultivating the head is easy because it requires you to merely take in information. But to develop the heart, you have to consistently give a part of yourself to others, and be sincerely loving, kind and giving.

An easy way to develop the heart is to practice the attitude of gratitude. When you are genuinely grateful for what you have, your heart naturally opens and you express loving kindness.

But genuine gratitude doesn’t come easily. We often take things for granted and overlook seeing the many blessings in our lives. Gratitude has to be consciously cultivated into a habit.

Here is a guided meditation to help you open your heart and be grateful for all the blessings in your life. A daily practice such as this is a subtle, yet powerful way of developing the heart.
